Organic Grain Farm Summer Job – Student
Overview
Southeast Saskatchewan organic grain farm is looking for a summer student who wants hands on experience on large scale, well established organic farm to learn about organic crop farming from research, to rotation planning, to seeding, and harvest. Experience with farm or related equipment or agricultural research work preferred, but not necessary. Gain experience working outdoors and with farm machinery doing a variety of tasks depending upon skill level. Position ideally suited but not restricted to: students that are interested in agriculture, organic farming as a possible career choice, or in a related career and are looking for a summer of practical hands on learning.
Description of job duties (training in farm safety and the following tasks provided):
Assist with machinery, building repair and maintenance.
Operate farm equipment.
Soil sampling with hydraulic sampler.
On farm research.
Ag drone mapping.
Grass cutting and yard work.
Qualifications
- experience with farm or related equipment or as an agricultural research technician preferred
- valid Class 5 drivers license
- attention to detail and safety
- ability to work independently
- ability to do physical labour, work outside in varied weather conditions
Applicants must qualify for Canada Summer Jobs Program by being between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment, as well as be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.

Moose Creek Organic Farm is a progressive well established organic farm that has hosted University of Manitoba organic research plots for several graduate students.
Work Location: Oxbow, Saskatchewan
Food and shared accommodation available
Starting April/May to late August (flexible)
Hours per week - Average 40 - 45 hours, occasional weekends (flexible). Time off for travel and/or special events
