THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tundra has an opportunity for a Production Engineering Student for an 8-month term starting May 2026 (May–December) based out of either our Calgary or Virden, Manitoba office.

REPORTS TO: Production Engineering Manager

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Continue the DH Dynamometer project data acquisition to advance progress toward optimal artificial lift design
Assist with developing and expanding the horizontal well downhole scale evaluation and mitigation project
Support Senior Production Technologists/Technicians with downhole scale squeeze treatments, acidizing, and solvent circulation stimulation programs
Assist Production Engineers with:
Preparing detailed well reviews for the Request to Abandon (RTA) process
Compiling backup information and entering candidate wells into Generwell
Production monitoring, including fluid level shots, dynamometer tests, and new well test evaluations
Gathering information and performing preliminary interpretations for drilling risk assessments
Coordinating well shut-ins and restart plans around frac treatment wells
Assist with troubleshooting problem wells to return them to production efficiently
Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED:

Must be enrolled in post-secondary education, working toward an undergraduate degree in Engineering or a petroleum-related discipline

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Previous oilfield experience in operations, drilling, or well servicing (asset)
Experience in, or ability to learn:
Sucker rod/beam pumping equipment and design
Pumping fluid levels and dynamometer equipment
Oilfield chemicals (corrosion, scaling, paraffin)
Software: PVR, Wellman, Excel
Production engineering basics (pressures, inflow performance)
Oilfield regulatory awareness
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently
Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
Adherence to Tundra’s Safety Policy and safety accountabilities

OTHER DETAILS:

This is an office-based position (Monday to Friday)
Safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
