HOURS: 30 hours/ week, including some evenings, Saturdays and/or Sundays

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Daly House Museum is in a process of growth and renewal. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and well-organized Public Relations and Programming Manager to join us to organize, manage, and promote our programs, events, exhibits, and garden to the local community. We are seeking a bright, engaging voice for the Museum who loves teamwork, interacting with the public and partners, in a fun filled, collaborative Museum environment. The ideal candidate will be able to creatively envision and deliver a new audience program for the Daly House and expand our influence and value to the community through marketing and engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Public Relations and Programming Manager under the supervision of the Curator will:
• Assist with developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating new interpretive plans for the museum
• Assist with the developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating community programming and activities for the museum
• Assist with the development of outreach activities that increase the visibility, awareness, and support of the museum with in the community.
• Assist with the development of programming for seniors in long-term care facilities, and senior residences
• Assist with the development of educational programs which respond directly to the needs of local students and teachers as they relate to the Manitoba Curriculum and which can be delivered in a traditional or non-traditional setting, on-site, on the road or online

Qualifications

• Have completed or are working towards an undergraduate degree in any of the following areas - Museum Studies, Archival Studies, Education, Tourism & Hospitality, Cultural Studies, History, Anthropology, Art History, Indigenous Studies
• Strong interpersonal communication and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, capable of multitasking, and prioritizing tasks
• Experience in program planning, community engagement, or related work
• Experience in working with the public
• Research experience and an interest in local, regional, and national history is an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community partners
