This position will involve a blend of office work, field tasks, and collaboration within the Material Handling team. As part of your responsibilities, you'll support grain receiving, DDGS loading, rail car spotting, and groundskeeping, including grass cutting, weed spraying, and trimming. You'll have the opportunity to develop valuable skills in communication, organization, safety, and collaboration, all while contributing to the efficient operation of our facility.

Note: this is NOT a camp-based location. Successful candidates will be required to relocate to Minnedosa or the surrounding area.

Responsibilities

Support efficient grain-receiving operations with a focus on accuracy.

Participate in DDGS loading while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards.

Assist in spotting rail cars and ensuring smooth material transfers.

Contribute to groundskeeping tasks for facility upkeep.

Actively engage in monthly safety meetings and facilitate four meetings, ensuring safety practices are followed and action items addressed.

Qualifications

Legally entitled to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

Available to begin work in May 2024

Availability to work a Monday to Friday schedule, with flexibility as needed for operational demands.

Comfortable with physical demands, equipment operation, and working in noisy and dusty environments.

Previous experience in grain purchasing or material handling is a plus but not mandatory.

Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members.

Well-organized and capable of planning and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

Safety-conscious, with a commitment to promoting and ensuring a safe working environment.

Education

Must be enrolled in an Agriculture, Science, Arts or Biosystems Engineering diploma or undergraduate program at the accredited post-secondary institution at the time of the intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.

New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Safety Sensitive

This is a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.

Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver is abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role.
