Recreation Programmer - Youth Centre

Overview

WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR:
Recreation Programmer – Youth Centre
The Recreation Hub Programmer – Youth Centre coordinates and implements recreation programs and special events that meet the needs of the Youth Centre and community hub and other duties as assigned. Activities include event scheduling, coordination, staffing, management, staffing and/or volunteer management, donation solicitation, program registration, assessing community needs, recreation program development and direct delivery of programs and evaluations. They coordinate the planning of activities and programs in accordance with Youth Centre and community-broad objectives, emphasizing superior internal and external customer service. Regular hours of work for are 9:30 am – 6:00 pm. This position requires flexible hours of work to be present for programs, events and supervising duties, including weekends and evenings.

This opportunity is open to all applicants; however, first consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees.

The selection process for this competition will include testing and an interview.

The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position.

Position Conditions: This permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69

Rate of Pay: $28.86 - $31.07 per hour - 2023 rates.

Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12, G.E.D, C.A.E.C, or Mature High School Diploma;
• Ability to hold and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license;
• Minimum of three (3) years experience at a mid line supervisory level;
• Minimum of two (2) years in recreation or a related field;
• Standard First Aid & CPR/C.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Post-secondary or equivalent diploma or undergraduate degree in recreation or related field or a combination of experience and education;
• Previous experience coordinating or supervising volunteers;
• Demonstrated experience organizing programs, as well as small and large-scale community events;
• Supervisory experience within a union environment.
