Homewood Ravensview is a private 75-bed mental health, trauma and addiction facility offering evidence-based, medically-led, inpatient services for first responders, military, veterans, executives & professionals, adults, and young adults.  Located in North Saanich near Victoria on 28 acres of forested hillside, Homewood Ravensview offers clients a comfortable and safe environment featuring serene ocean views from spacious rooms, welcoming common areas and a world-class team of physicians, psychiatrists, counsellors and 24-hour nursing professionals.

What you’ll be doing

Implement the principles and practices of a patient and family centered recovery model in mental health and addictions treatment
Conduct comprehensive mental health and addiction risk assessments, formulate treatment and discharge plans and provide crisis intervention
Perform detox assessments
Communicate and collaborate with patients and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis
Assess patients daily for care needs and follow up; consult with doctors and clinical team members about patient care
Collaborate with patients and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients, families and communities
Analyze and synthesize all available information for the development of an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with other care providers, patients and families
Identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient care
Conduct day-to-day care delivery to patients and administer medications
Provide nursing intervention as required and determine when health care needs to be escalated to other health professionals
Coordinate referrals to appropriate health resources
Advocate for the patient
Perform appropriate clinical monitoring
Evaluate efficacy of care and treatment plans and adjust as necessary
Intervene in emergencies, crises or violent situations, according to the needs of the patient and family
Document assessments and patient progress in a timely manner, keeping records current at all times
Mentor and act as a preceptor for students as required

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

Bachelor degree or College Diploma from an accredited Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing program
Ability to obtain full practicing licensure with the BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
Non-violent Crisis Intervention course preferred
Current First Aid/CPR Certification for health care providers (Level 1 or greater)
Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative, creativity and professional judgment
Ability to work with patients with mental health and substance abuse issues
Knowledge of community, social and mental health resources
Awareness and acknowledgement of the value of using measurement-based care when supporting patients/clients to help guide clinical decision making; experience an asset
Ability to effectively manage conflict and aggressive behaviour and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioural management techniques
