Overview
Manitoba Crop Alliance (MCA) is seeking a full-time Research and Production Coordinator to join our team on a 12-month term and help advance MCA’s research and extension programs. The role plays a key part in strengthening the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of Manitoba farmers.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for agriculture who can work closely with our research and agronomy extension teams to bridge science and practice, ensuring research findings are effectively shared to MCA farmer members. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Reporting to the Research Program Manager – Special Crops, the Research and Production Coordinator will lead MCA’s knowledge transfer and communication strategies for funded projects, oversee the Research on the Farm program, and ensure these activities align with MCA’s mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research Communication Management
• Develop and implement research-to-extension strategies for funded projects, ensuring results are effectively communicated to farmer members.
• Facilitate regular research and extension meetings to promote collaboration between research managers and agronomy extension specialists.
• Collaborate with the communications team to produce videos, web content and other materials that amplify research and extension outcomes for MCA members.
Research on the Farm Leadership
• Lead the Research on the Farm program by collaborating with MCA’s agronomy extension specialists to co-develop protocols, engage third-party researchers, enrol and support participants, manage data analysis and organize annual events.
• Ensure integrity and impact of trial results by overseeing statistical analysis and ensuring findings are meaningful and actionable for farmer members.
• Maximize program value by preparing and submitting funding applications to leverage farmer dollars.
• Foster collaboration with external partners.
Qualifications
•Completed post-secondary education in agriculture or a related discipline; M.Sc. preferred.
•Knowledge of Canadian agriculture, agronomy, crop genetics and crop utilization; understanding of scientific research principles, data analysis and practices.
•P.Ag. designation or eligibility.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities.
•Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
•Self-motivated, collaborative and team oriented.
•Experience in the non-profit sector and/or working with a board of directors is an asset.
