Overview
We currently have an opportunity for a permanent full time Research Technician in Newton, MB.
The Research Technician works with the Field Manager and Agronomists to carry out activities related to small plot field research.
The successful applicant's duties will include:
Assist in establishing and maintaining research trials by preparing seed and land, seeding, pest control and plot maintenance
Use of a variety of field equipment, including tractors, planter, hiller, cultivator and back-pack sprayer.
Field sample and data collection.
Assist with potato tuber sugar analysis
Assisting agronomists with other duties as required

Qualifications
Ideally, this candidate will meet the following requirements:
Post-secondary education preferably in Agriculture or Science.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Experience with agricultural equipment operation and maintenance is an asset, but not a requirement.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a non-temporary basis.
A valid driver's license.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as contributing to a team environment.
Attention to detail, ability to problem solve and adapt to changing priorities.
