About the School:
Minegoziibe Anishinabe School is a modern educational facility serving Nursery to Grade 12. Our school features bright, well-equipped classrooms, science laboratories, a large gymnasium, library, home economics and industrial arts rooms, specialized resource rooms, and a multi-purpose space. Located on the scenic east shore of Lake Winnipegosis in Pine Creek First Nation, we are approximately 120 km north of Dauphin and 90 km southeast of Swan River, accessible by paved highway.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Resource Teacher to support the diverse academic needs of our students. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, educational assistants, and families to plan, implement, and monitor individualized programming for students requiring additional academic or behavioral support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted academic interventions for students identified with exceptional learning needs.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and adapt instructional strategies and materials.
Coordinate and support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Conduct academic assessments and interpret results to inform programming decisions.
Liaise with families, school support staff, and external specialists as needed.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders.
Support inclusive practices within the school and promote student success and engagement.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree and preferably a Master's Degree in Education or related field
Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
Manitoba Special Education certificate or certification in progress
Previous experience as a Resource Teacher
Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
Excellent understanding of current Manitoba curricula and differentiated instruction
Knowledge and training in formal and informal assessment
Familiar with appropriate educational programming
Ability to complete provincial documentation requirements for appropriate educational programming
Ability to interpret educational and cognitive assessments
Willingness to be trained in intervention programs presently in place
A commitment to continue to support on-going programs in the school
Strong verbal and written communication skills
