The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Sandblaster/Shop Worker position within Rapid City Memorials located in Rapid City, MB. The Sandblaster/Shop Worker is responsible for operating automated and manual sandblasting and diamond etching equipment to produce high-quality memorial products.
Qualifications
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Operate and maintain automatic sandblasting equipment;
• Set up and operate diamond etching machinery;
• Prepare and weed designs for memorials;
• Perform manual sandblasting on memorials;
• Paint and finish memorial products to a high standard;
• Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes (certification required);
• Handle and work with concrete materials;
• Read and interpret contracts, work orders, and design specifications.
Skills and Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; training provided;
• Previous experience in sandblasting or in a shop is preferred but willing to train;
• Experience operating a forklift or a crane is an asset;
• WHMIS Certification is required;
• First Aid Certification is required;
• Forklift Certification is required;
• Ability to work independently, in a team and with the public;
• Ability to manage inventory and relationships with suppliers;
• Ability to use time and resources to accomplish departmental objectives;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is required.
