Summer Position - Student Relief Operator

Tundra is seeking Student Relief Operators for the summer of 2023 (beginning of May until end of August) based out of the Virden, Manitoba & Estevan, Saskatchewan areas.

Reporting to the Production Foreman, some specific duties, and responsibilities of a Student Relief Operator include, but are not limited to:

• Perform daily well checks by inspecting equipment to ensure it is running properly
• Inspect flow lines from the oil well
• Ensure leases, batteries and other work areas are clean, tidy, and hazard free
• Test wells by obtaining volumes, samples, and gas readings, maintain logbook, and enter test results into PVR
• Measure pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and check storage capabilities
• Perform pigging on pipelines
• Perform chemical circulations and monitor chemical rates
• Report spills, near misses, and complete hazard ID’s
• Maintain good relations with landowners
• Maintain assigned company truck and tools
• Required to attend Safety and Operator Meetings

Qualifications

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Must be enrolled in Post Secondary Education
• Valid Driver’s License
• Willingness to achieve certification in:
o H2S Alive Certificate
o First Aid/ CPR
o ATV Safety Course
o WHMIS
o TDG
• Basic mathematical abilities are required
• Computer skills are considered an asset
• Mechanical abilities are considered an asset
• Strong safety conscience
• Collaborate well with others
• Detail oriented
• Ability to identify problems, brainstorm and analyze answers, and implement the best solutions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Maintain good house keeping of assigned company vehicle and facilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Required to reside within a 45-minute drive of the assigned field
• Must conform to facial hair standards for wearing respiratory protective equipment as required by Enform
• Required to drive to a variety of work sites using company vehicles including all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, etc.
• Exposure to all weather conditions
• May be required to lift items weighing up to 25 kilograms or more.
• Exposure to potential hazards eg. toxic chemicals such as hydrogen sulphide.
• Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra’s Safety Policy.
