Overview

Waterhen School is a Nursery to Grade 9 facility serving approximately 60 students. The school is supported by a dedicated team of 5 teaching staff and 15 support staff. Located roughly one hour northeast of Dauphin, the community offers a welcoming environment with housing available for the successful candidate.

Position Summary:
Waterhen School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Teaching Principal to lead our school community. This dual role includes full administrative responsibilities and teaching Physical Education to students from Nursery to Grade 9. The ideal candidate will be a strong instructional leader with a commitment to student success, staff collaboration, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide educational leadership and day-to-day management of school operations

Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive school climate

Supervise, support, and evaluate teaching and support staff

Oversee the development and implementation of school programming

Communicate effectively with families, community members, and divisional staff

Teach Physical Education to students in Nursery to Grade 9

Manage school budgets, scheduling, and reporting

Support student achievement and well-being through evidence-based practices

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Education degree and Valid Manitoba Teacher's Certificate (or eligibility for)
- Master's degree in education/administration and/or Certificate in School Leadership would be an asset
- At least five years of teaching experience and five years of administrative experience
- Excellent understanding of current Manitoba Curricula and differentiated instruction
- Experience with integrating Indigenous culture and land-based teaching into curriculum
- Proficiency in a variety of computer applications in a network environment and experience with and understanding of
school-based technology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and the community, and foster parental involvement
- Ability to work with teachers to promote and deliver inclusive schooling
- Previous success with the development and implementation of short and long-term school-based plans
- Experience leading innovative and alternative program delivery methods for students
- Keen ability to identify and creatively solve problems
- Capacity to work in and respond to a demanding, fast-paced school environment
