Telecom Support Analyst

Overview

Telecom Support Analyst (IT-01)
Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology (IT), information management (IM) or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
You will be required to submit proof of education (i.e. degree, diploma, and/or transcripts).

Shared Services Canada is modernizing how the Government of Canada manages its information technology (IT) infrastructure. The Department is mandated to deliver e-mail, data centre and telecommunication services, including videoconferencing and Wi-Fi, to partner organizations.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology (IT), Telecommunications or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of one or multiple practices for Networks and Telecommunication Infrastructure Operations.
Example:
Provide support and maintaining network connectivity (VOIP/PBX/Centrex/LAN) .
Provide technical support to IT infrastructure clients experiencing difficulties with LAN/MAN/WAN/VOIP services and cabling.
Investigates, determines and documents problems experienced and action taken to address client difficulties and refers problems to the next level of support as required.
Analyze IT requirements and participates in the development, upgrade and maintenance of infrastructure systems to ensure data delivery.
Design IT solutions as well as logical and technical specifications.
Develop and implement communication and network solutions, as well as system enhancements.
Knowledge of technology infrastructure, systems configuration and administration, various operating systems, network systems and hardware/software analysis techniques, to provide solutions to various problems including the installation and/or repair of hardware.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology (IT), Telecommunications or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

The following are conditions of employment
Availability, willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
Availability, willingness and ability to travel at a National level as required.
Availability, willingness and ability to transport, lift and set down equipment weighing up to 20kg.
Must possess a valid driver's license or have the required mobility normally associated with possession of a valid driver's license.
