Position Conditions: This full-time permanent position will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. This opportunity is open to all applicants; however, first consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position.
Rate of Pay: $22.89 - $24.64 per hour (2025 Rates)
Closing Date: 11:59pm on September 9, 2025.
This competition will include testing and an interview.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To provide routine maintenance for the interior and exterior of all Brandon Transit shelters. Grass cutting, snow removal, cleaning, emptying of garbage bins, etc. at all bus stop locations, and the care and maintenance of tools and equipment necessary to perform the assigned duties.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• General upkeep of transit facilities, benches, and equipment;
• Cleans and washes interior of shelters using pressure washers, wash brush, brooms and all other necessary equipment. Removes paper, dirt and dust, graffiti from interior walls/windows and interior ad display glass;
• Cleans and washes exterior of shelter using pressure washer, wash brush, cloths etc. Removes dirt and dust, graffiti from exterior walls/windows and exterior ad display glass. Cutting/trimming of grass in bus stop area, around shelters, benches, poles.
• Operation of loader to remove snow at all bus stop locations. Snow clearing to be completed to expected standards to ensure all areas are accessible. Shovelling is required to remove snow from interior / doorways of shelter.
• Notifies supervisor of repair needs and requirements for cleaning materials and supplies;
• Fuels truck, weed whipper, pressure washer, mower and loader as required;

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's licence.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Sufficient experience to have demonstrated the ability to perform the position tasks satisfactorily.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Utility Worker works independently and in a team environment.
• Work in a shared and consultative manner with other employees (daily);
• Self-motivated and quality driven to perform independent duties and facilitate team goals (daily);
• Necessary to work in all types of weather conditions (daily);
• Must be available to work varying shifts (days/evenings/weekends);
• Responsible to the Manager of Transit Services.
