Your opportunity
Dillon's Transportation technical group is looking for a Civil Engineering co-op student to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects within Winnipeg and across Manitoba while gaining valuable exposure and experience in the consulting engineering industry.
This position is based out of our Winnipeg office, however we have project opportunities across the province including Brandon and Northern Manitoba.
Qualifications
What your day may look like
Technical Work
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff.
- Coordination and completion of field assessments and information gathering.
- Topographic survey using modern technologies (Total Station, GPS, & Drones)
- Conducting road construction inspection as part of a team.
- Performing construction layout of horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for detailed surveys on projects including highways, urban streets, railways, bridges and other engineering works as part of a team.
- Conducting quantity measurements and calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of contract documents such as progress estimates, change in work orders, site instructions, and meeting minutes.
- Design assistance to engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation roadways.
- Drafting and design utilizing AutoCAD for a variety of project types.

What you will need to succeed
Education
Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineer Technology (CET) ,Civil Engineering Degree (EIT), or technician program.
Experience/Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
- Survey experience with Total Station, GPS, Drones, and Rod/Level is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
