Position Conditions:
• This part-time position including shift work (days, evenings, and weekend) will be offered in accordance with conditions according to the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. This opportunity is open to all applicants; however, first consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position.
• The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.

Rate of Pay: $23.47 - $25.25 per hour (2026 Rates)

PURPOSE OF POSITION
To work as part of a facility team by delivering an exceptional level of custodial, minor maintenance work, customer service, clerical relief and event set up at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Cleaning Operations
 Ensures the facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner; duties include cleaning, waxing, and polishing floors, and cleaning windows and arena glass, walls, lockers, and furniture in and around the facility;
 Ensures sidewalks, stairs, and emergency exits are cleared of snow and other debris and grounds are free of litter;
 Performs minor maintenance on building, grounds and related equipment and structures;
 Develops, records and implements general operating guidelines for new cleaning materials and cleaning procedures using owners manuals and material safety data sheets.

Facility Operations
 Assists facility staff in a variety of maintenance areas including painting, flooding ice surfaces, creating and setting up boards for outdoor rink, changing zamboni blades, and lubricating and servicing heating plants, air conditioning units, refrigeration machinery, and other equipment;
 Ensures for the safe retrieval of money from change room lockers;
 Assists with set up and take down for various events within and around the facility such as swim meets, racquetball tournaments, track meets, hockey tournaments, etc.;
 Performs security duties by escorting patrons from the facility as necessary;
 Takes part in the emergency plan for the facility;
 Purchases supplies as needed and records and balances monthly expenditures;
 Relieves for the office Administrative staff as required;
 Maintains Cleaner log book on a daily basis and communicates status of projects with other employees.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
 Hold and maintain Class 5 Province of Manitoba driver’s license.
 Hold and maintain emergency First Aid and CPR certificate (must be obtained prior to start date).
 Sufficient customer service experience to have demonstrated competence in related tasks.
 Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Verification. (must be obtained prior to start date)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
 One (1) year experience in cleaning, operating cleaning equipment, and carrying out minor maintenance of buildings and grounds.
 Provides relief coverage for administrative staff as needed, including performing computer-based tasks and handling cash transactions with accuracy and professionalism.

WORK CONDITIONS
The Utility Worker Level II works independently and in a team environment.
 Work in a shared and consultative manner with other employees (daily);
 Self motivated and quality driven to perform independent projects and facilitate team goals (daily);
 Works in areas of confined space, heights, unpleasant noise levels, and adverse odours (occasionally);
 Position requires shift work including days, evenings, and weekends;
 Responsible to the Recreation Coordinator - Sportsplex.
