YOUTH ENGAGEMENT & COMMUNITY PROGRAMS LEADER
This summer position is funded through the Urban/Hometown Green Team Program.
(Full-time June 1st to August 31st )

Are you passionate about inclusion, working with young people, and making a meaningful impact in your community? The Shilo Military Family Resource Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and compassionate Community Inclusion Worker to support children and youth of all abilities in fully participating in programs and building a sense of belonging.

This is a great opportunity for students, education assistants, recreation staff, or anyone interested in youth work, social services, or inclusive community programming.

What You’ll Do
Working alongside our Youth Programs team, you will:
- Provide direct support to children and youth to ensure inclusive participation in programs
- Assist in adapting activities to meet a variety of abilities, needs, and learning styles
- Work one-on-one or in small groups to support engagement, social interaction, and confidence-building
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with program staff to implement inclusive strategies and approaches
- Support behavioural guidance using positive and respectful techniques
- Assist with program setup, organization, and cleanup
- Communicate effectively with staff, families, and participants

Qualifications

- Youth aged 15 to 29 years
- Experience working with children or youth in an inclusive support setting
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and a positive, respectful attitude
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and supporting children and youth of all abilities
- Ability to follow direction while also being adaptable and proactive in supporting diverse needs
- Comfortable assisting participants one-on-one or in small groups to support engagement and participation
- Valid First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Valid Driver’s License is an asset
