Overview
Position Description:
The Shilo Military Family Resource Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and caring full-time Youth Programs Facilitator for a 12-month maternity coverage position. This role supports children and youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12 whose families meet our mandate. Programming focuses on recreation, social/emotional learning, leadership, community connection, and life skills in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Under the supervision of the Youth Programs Coordinator, the Youth Programs Facilitator will help plan, deliver, evaluate, and provide coverage for youth programs at the Centre, school sites, and community locations as needed. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with young people, supporting military families, and helping create meaningful program experiences.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Design, deliver, and evaluate creative, inclusive youth programs
• Create a safe, supportive environment for participants, staff, and volunteers
• Maintain program records, reports, registrations, and communications
• Assist with budgets, payments, and day-to-day program administration
• Build strong relationships with families, schools, community partners, and service providers
• Provide program coverage and support the Youth Supervisor as needed
Terms of Reference:
• This is a part-time position with a minimum of 22.5 hours per week. Additional hours may be available in the future based on program needs and funding.
• This is an in-person position based at the Shilo Military Family Resource Centre in Shilo, Manitoba.
• Daytime with the occasional evening and weekend shifts to support programs and events
• Starting wage: $19.40/hour
• Mileage compensation available for commutes over 16 km
Qualifications
Requirements:
• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma; related post-secondary education is an asset
• Experience supporting children and youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12
• Current First Aid/CPR certification, valid Manitoba Driver’s License, and clear Criminal Record and Child Abuse checks
• Strong communication, organization, and confidentiality skills; bilingual skills are an asset
