The purpose of this course is for students to
explore what technical communication is, how
important technical communication is to everyday
life, and how technical documents are designed and
organized in unique and creative ways. Students
have the opportunity to incorporate their own
ideas and thoughts into tasks and assignments, and
to build a foundation of skills that will be
valuable for post-high school life.

Communications - SCA

As a Supportive Care Assistant, you will demonstrate inclusive practice skills when interacting with clients, families, and other interprofessional team members. This will involve respecting the clients' beliefs, values, and rights while responding to situations with honesty, humility, and integrity. You will also begin to understand the importance of communication and relaying information appropriately. This module provides the background information, skills, and effective communication techniques to provide inclusive client-centred support.

Comms and Relational Skills

Essential to the successful supply chain professional are the competencies of listening skills, spoken and written communication, persuasiveness and the ability to explain complex issues up and down the organization and around the supply chain. Another critical ability is building effective inter-organizational supply chain relationships. This workshop covers how to create and deliver strong presentations and how to be professional in your spoken communications by looks at steak, sizzle and style. Non-verbal communications such as appearance and body language are also explored.

Online Marketing & Branding

In today's society, expectations of both customers and companies are changing with new electronic mediums. Delve further into the rapidly changing e-marketing landscape with a closer look at new technology that will deliver your message quickly and effectively. Also, we will touch on the importance of branding and how to use e-marketing to create a distinctive identity to differentiate you from your competitors.

Communication/Professionalism

Home inspectors are required, both verbally and in writing, to describe the inspection process and communicate inspection findings to the client. It is important that home inspectors communicate clearly and effectively to ensure that clients understand the inspection results and the report. In this course, students develop their oral and written communication skills and learn the reporting requirements and proper conduct for a professional home inspector. Study sessions are included to help you make your way through the material, and quick quizzes help you check your progress.

Practice Proposal Writing

Understand what it takes to write an impactful grant proposal. Learn, with guidance from an industry professional, how to articulate ideas and key points into a developed proposal, using practice writing exercises.

Grant Writing 101

Learn how to build a strong application by understanding the components of a proposal process. A few topics covered will include the difference between outcomes and objectives, how to prepare for an application including formatting a budget, and interpreting eligibility requirements of grants.

Presentation Skills

Learn the basic components of writing a good presentation. Students discuss and practice elements of effective delivery of a presentation which includes gesturing, eye contact, movement, and how to keep your audience interested.

Interpersonal Communication

Understanding our personal communication style at work and how it interacts with others’ is essential to a positive, productive workplace. Students build awareness of their natural strengths while exploring how their work style changes in stressful situations. This course provides students with a general introduction to the theory and principles of interpersonal communication. Students develop and practice skills to improve communication effectiveness.
