ACC Adult Collegiate graduates 41 students

Forty-one students from ACC's Adult Collegiate received their mature student high school diplomas at a ceremony on Saturday, June 21.

This year’s valedictorian, Kitrena Low, made the decision to return to school after 20 years. “Graduating means the world to me,” she said. “I am doing this for my son to better his life so he doesn’t struggle the way I did.” Low will continue her education this fall as a student in the college’s Land and Water Management program.

Ten students graduated with honours, meaning they had achieved a cumulative average of at least 80 per cent in their courses.

Awards were given to 22 students for excellence and achievement. Two entrance scholarships will were also awarded to graduates continuing on with post-secondary education at ACC. Other awards included the 2014 Westman’s Award of Excellence Scholarship and the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) Scholarship.
