ACC welcomes newest student cohort from India for CHCA program

This week a cohort of international students from India started their first day of classes in the college’s Comprehensive Health Care Aid (CHCA) International program.

Twenty four students packed their belongings and moved to Brandon to kick start their health care training in Canada.

“We’re excited to have twenty four bright, young students here with us,” said Anna Simonyan, ACC’s International Coordinator. “This is the first full cohort of students we’ve welcomed from India to Brandon.”

Assiniboine Community College is part of the Student Partnership Program (SPP), a partnership between IRCC’s visa offices in India and Colleges and Institutions Canada that helps students in India streamline and speed up their study visa applications.

This nine-month long CHCA international program prepares students for a challenging and fulfilling career in health care. The program encompasses a practical component and teaches many aspects of heath care which prepares them to work in a variety of health care settings.

Graduates can apply for postgraduate work permits and may be eligible to work in acute and extended care facilities, personal care homes, mental health settings and home care.

ACC continues to grow its international student base. Last year, ACC welcomed over a 100 international students from various countries, including China, India, Ukraine and Brazil.
