Assiniboine announces first tuition winner from ‘Armed for Fall’ contest

Assiniboine Community College Power Engineering student Nolan Slate, has been drawn as the grand prize winner of free tuition in the college’s Armed for Fall contest. The contest, announced in May, aims to encourage students to get vaccinated and help protect themselves and Manitoba in the fight against COVID-19.

"Winning this contest was an awesome experience and I was excited to find out I won. It was pretty unexpected and It will help me out through my second year," said Slate.

Secondary prizes, including college prize packs and book store gift cards, have gone lucky winners across various programs, including Network Administration Technology, Baking Foundations, Business Administration, Land and Water Management and Practical Nursing.

The college has added a second grand prize draw for tuition up to $4,000, open to students who have received their first dose of vaccine by September 30.

Assiniboine is partnering with Prairie Mountain Health to host free vaccine clinics on campus this month beginning next week. These clinics are open to all students and staff. Details can be found at assiniboine.net/vaccineclinic.
