Athletes of the Month for November

Jayde Hansen-Young returned to the court for the Cougars after a cancelled season in 2020-21. She has been recognized as the women’s volleyball on-court leader who is also a tenacious defender. She leads her team offensively and is a tremendously hard worker in practice every single day.

Although she trained with the Cougars years prior, the team never did get the chance to compete due to the onset of the pandemic. She returns having never used any eligibility as the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference cancelled the 2020-21 season.

Jayde is a positive presence within her team and shows true leadership on and off the court.

Our second athlete of the month, Simone Turner, the Cougars hockey captain, has taken her experience over the years in the league and put that into helping new recruits and returning players navigate this season and to no surprise, they have again found themselves at the top of the west conference.

Turner is being recognized for the hard work she puts in every single shift, whether that be in practice, training or in a game. This has held true since she joined the Cougars Hockey program, back in 2014! As of November 30^th, Simone as accumulated 12 goals and 13 assists for a total of 25 points in 8 games played in the ACHA regular play
