Aiden Macsymach has committed to the Cougars men’s volleyball team.

Macsymach is a local talent from Brandon, Manitoba. He will be graduating at the end of the month from Neelin High School where he played volleyball for the Spartans, and won a city title last season. He also achieved athletic honour roll. Macsymach is six-foot-two with experience in nearly every position on the volleyball court. He will primarily train as a middle for the Cougars, but get reps in multiple positions.

“Aiden is athletic, moves well and can fit in any position on the court,” said Cougars head coach Dan Ashfield. “He has a good serve and reads the game well. We are looking forward to seeing Aiden compete and train at the next level.”

Macsymach played for the Brandon Volleyball Club U18 team this season. Outside of volleyball and school, he has volunteered with various organizations including Samaritan house, Maple Leaf Christmas parties and the Helping Hands soup kitchen.

“I’m looking forward to working hard to improve my skills, putting them to use and learning more about the game,” said Macsymach. “I’m super excited to play at Assiniboine and cannot wait to start practicing and playing with the team.”

Macsymach’s father suggested he’d be good at volleyball and encouraged him to give it a try. His love of the game grew quickly along with his talent. His father is an alumnus of the Business Administration program at Assiniboine, and Macsymach will follow in his footsteps and start the same program in the fall.
