DeLaMare and Paddock commit to Assiniboine Cougars women’s volleyball

BRANDON, Man. (March 29, 2017) — The Assiniboine Cougars women’s volleyball team has strengthened their recruiting class for the 2017-18 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) season with the addition of Blaire DeLaMare and Jordyn Paddock.

DeLaMare is a 5’9 right side from Dauphin, Manitoba. She is no stranger to success having won a provincial high school bronze (2014), gold (2015) and silver (2016) medal with the Dauphin Clippers. She is a lifeguard, swimming and first aid teacher in Dauphin and will pursue her interest in youth and education while taking the college’s Early Childhood Education course in September.

“My love for volleyball started when I was young and I am not ready for it to be over after high school,” says DeLaMare. “I am excited to play for the Cougars with a new team and new experiences.”

“Blaire has been a starter on a AAA provincial winning team. She brings a high level of confidence and an understanding of what it takes to win,” says head coach Jeff Maxwell. “Her positive and supportive attitude will be a huge asset to our team.”

Paddock is a 5’7 left side from Oak River, Manitoba. She is a multi-talented athlete having played volleyball and basketball at Rivers Collegiate, winning a provincial basketball championship in 2014. She also enjoys playing the piano and singing. Paddock will be entering into the college’s Early Childhood Education program as well.

“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to keep playing the sport that I love,” says Paddock, “and am thankful to my coaches that have helped get me here.”

“Jordyn is a strong outside hitter that jumps well and has great hitting mechanics,” says Maxwell. “One of her greatest strengths is her loyalty and team first attitude.”
