The Cougars women’s volleyball team is happy to announce the recent signing of Shae-Lynn McKinstry.

McKinstry, a MacGregor local had taken a year off from the sport but has since decided her time away from the court needs to be cut short. Shae-Lynn is no stranger to the main stage, after winning the AA JV Provincial High School Champions in 2015-16, named an All-Star in the AA SV Provincial High School Volleyball Championship in 2018 and the Mustang Athletics SV Volleyball MVP in 2019.

Off the court, McKinstry volunteered on the Student Council Committee all through high school and was a member of the honor roll and graduated with distinction in 2019.

“I really missed playing and want to make the best out of my last year of college” says McKinstry

For Shae-Lynn, the love of her sport started in Grade 6 and she has been playing ever since. After completing her first year at Assiniboine Community College McKinstry is ready to get back on the court.

“Competing at a higher level and making unforgettable memories with the team is what I am most looking forward to,” said McKinstry. “I am a very positive team player, always encouraging my teammates and leading by example.”

Cougars’ Head Coach Jeff Maxwell expressed his excitement on signing a setter to the team. “Setters are always difficult to recruit so we are excited Shae-Lynn has decided to join our program.”

“Shae-Lynn was a player we watched during her high school and club years,” said Jeff Maxwell. “We were always impressed by her competitive nature and strong volleyball IQ.”

McKinstry will be going into her second year in the Agribusiness Program this upcoming September.
