More than 900 ACC students graduate today in Brandon

Today, 916 students will formally graduate from Assiniboine Community College (ACC), each marking a significant milestone in their lives while celebrating their achievements in front of family, friends and college staff.

A total of 739 students will be graduating from 37 different certificate and diploma programs in addition to 177 apprenticeship graduates from seven programs.

“Graduations are significant events for our college, applauding the dedication and success of every student,” said president Mark Frison. “These graduates have made meaningful investments in their futures through education and we’re thrilled to be a part of that.”

Each year the Province of Manitoba awards two graduating students with Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medals. These graduates have excelled academically, displayed strength of character and contributed to the college and community in a meaningful way.

This year’s medal recipients are Nicole McKinnon, graduating with a diploma in Early Childhood Education, and Larry Makarikhin, graduating with a diploma in Business Administration.

Karleigh Paul is this year’s valedictorian. She is graduating from ACC’s Interactive Media Arts program.

Overall, 238 students will be graduating with distinction, meaning they achieved at least a 4.0 cumulative weighted grade point average during their studies.

The college will award Mildred Murray with an honorary diploma in Social and Community Service at the graduation.

The ceremony takes place today at 2 p.m. at the Keystone Centre in Brandon.

Last week, 121 students graduated from the college’s Parkland Campus in Dauphin. Next week, ACC will hold its annual Adult Collegiate graduation in Brandon.
