Permanent Culinary Arts Instructor

Overview

R. D. Parker requires one Instructor to teach Culinary Arts in the RD Parker Technical Vocational major program located in
Thompson Manitoba. The teaching assignment is grades 9-12 may include:
EXPLORATION OF THE CULINARY ARTS
COOKING PRINCIPLES
GARDE MANGER
PATISSERIE AND BAKING
VEG, FUNGI, STARCHES & FARINACEOUS PROD.
STOCKS, SOUPS AND SAUCES
BREAKFAST AND DAIRY
MENU PLANNING AND FOOD COSTING
MEATS, POULTRY, FISH AND SEAFOOD
The instructor will be responsible for classroom management, student supervision, maintenance of student records and grades, and maintenance and ordering of applicable inventory. Responsibilities may include some extracurricular events such as the Northern Skills Challenge, and Skills Manitoba competitions.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an Interprovincial Red Seal. A Technical Vocational Teaching (TVT) certificate is preferred. If the successful candidate does not possess a TVT diploma, they must enroll in the program and remain committed to completing a minimum of one course/year. The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain a Limited Teaching permit.
Applicants must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the Culinary Arts industry. Experience with the latest equipment in this trade is an asset. Good communication skills (both oral and written), and strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and computer skills are required.
Crucial to this position is a commitment to culturally proficient education and a knowledge and sensitivity to the traditions of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
Previous instructional experience in a high school setting is an asset.
