Summer Student, Morris Curling Club
Overview
The Morris Curling Club is a high performance curling facility that operates ice 12 months of the year. Summer months are driven primarily by practice ice. The Morris Curling Club works very closely with the Cargill Curling Training Centre (CCTC) and their coaches.
The summer student will report to a designated board member and is responsible for:
- Booking, Scheduling, Opening & Lock Up, Collecting payment and issuing receipts
- Monitoring the CCTC gmail account morristrainingcentre@gmail.com and dealing with/passing on information as required
- Maintaining a calendar of on line bookings and communicating these to designated MCC staff
- Assisting with ice making as needed under the ice maker's direction
- Posting to relevant social media sites, working on promoting new and upcoming events including identifying volunteers needed and other needs to ensure the event runs smoothly
- Coordinating summer camps and lessons and promoting use of the MCC for summer events
Qualifications
- This position is ideally suited for post secondary students enrolled in sports/fitness related, marketing or business students who are looking for relevant experience to enhance their suitability for full time work upon graduation
- Computer profiency (MS Office) and updating website postings
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Some project management experience/exposure is an asset
- Previous curling experience and a passion for the sport of curling are a definite bonus
