Maintenance Technician

Overview

What You Will Do
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Oak Hammock Marsh Conservation Centre, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in the upkeep of the buildings and utilities located at Oak Hammock Marsh.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment and machinery.
o This could include grounds maintenance (all season), setting up for events, or special maintenance projects.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and address them proactively.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Collaborate with other team members to complete maintenance projects and ensure efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will be a highly adaptable and independent individual with a keen ability to abide by set timelines. You are a reliable and highly organized team player with excellent project management skills.

Position Details: Full Time, Permanent
Salary Range: Starting salary at $35,700, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will be commensurate with each individual's education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Stonewall, Manitoba

Qualifications

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar positions. A combination of education, skills and lived experience will be considered for this position.
• Willing to obtain the Water and Wastewater Operator Certification. Costs for this will be covered by DUC.
• Must hold a valid Class 5F driver's license and regular access to a vehicle
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• This position involves intense physical work, heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), and outdoor work in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays and on rotating shifts. Flexible hours may be required at times.
• Candidate will be expected to be “on-call” if there are urgent matters outside of regular business hours
• Ability to work effectively with others in teams as well as independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite of products especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
