The Educational Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing student success within the School of Nursing's Practical Nursing program. Working closely with faculty, student advisors, and support services, the successful candidate provides individualized academic assistance, classroom and laboratory support, and learning technology guidance to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for success in their studies. This position is dedicated to fostering student engagement, persistence, and independent learning while contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and learner-centered educational environment that promotes academic achievement and readiness for nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small-group academic support, tutoring, and learning strategy coaching to Practical Nursing students.
  • Reinforce classroom, lab, and clinical concepts through guided practice, study skills development, and academic mentoring.
  • Support faculty with classroom and lab activities, instructional materials, student engagement, and learning resource management.
  • Assist students with Moodle, Microsoft 365, Teams, and other educational technologies while promoting digital literacy and troubleshooting basic technical issues.
  • Monitor student progress, identify learners requiring additional supports, and connect students with appropriate College resources and services.
  • Support assessment and testing processes, including exam invigilation, accommodated testing, and maintaining academic integrity.
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and student support services to foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that promotes retention, confidence, and success in nursing education.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate or diploma in Educational Assistant, Nursing, Health Sciences, Education, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Moodle, Teams, and other educational technologies.
  • Experience supporting learners in an educational, clinical, or healthcare training environment.
  • Experience providing tutoring, academic coaching, mentoring, or learning support to students.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary academic team while maintaining confidentiality and managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment; Practical Nursing or healthcare experience is considered an asset.
