Are you passionate about community wellness? Do you enjoy working with youth? The YMCA Community Action Network (YCAN) is an innovative national program that engages local youth to address needs they identify in their own community through service projects. As the Program Coordinator you will facilitate a curriculum to youth cohorts and be responsible for the local delivery of the project. You will network to recruit a diversity of youth to participate in the program, focusing on youth underrepresented in civic engagement programming (who identify as newcomer, Indigenous, low-income, NEET). Through the course of the project, you will train and mentor them to successfully select, lead, and deliver service projects in their own communities.

Qualifications

Are you the right fit?

• Able to build positive working relationships with youth participants (aged 15-29)
• Collaborate with participants and community partners to develop community service projects
• Mentor youth to develop skills necessary to lead projects
• Support youth and help address barriers which might prevent participation
• Ensure consistent and clear communication and reporting with local and national colleagues in the YCAN network

What else do you need?

• Post-Secondary Degree in Social Development or other relevant education
• Three years’ relevant experience in a lead role or combination of relevant education and experience
• Experience working with community partners in a development role
• Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C (can provide)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong knowledge of community organizations and resources in Winnipeg
