The Role:
We are growing and looking to build a team of exceptional talent who share our core values of positive energy, curiosity, people power and ownership thinking. We are looking for a Service Technician for our Two-Way Radio Division at our location in Kenora, ON.

This is a full-time, permanent role. All levels of experience are welcome to apply. This position is NOT remote.

Job Duties:
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic equipment, including radio receiver and transceiver units, pagers, cell-phone boosters, accessories, coaxial cable, and test equipment.
• Program radio equipment for the sales and service department, and design and build various hardware to perform this function.
• Install communications equipment in shop and field environments, as well as in buildings and various kinds of vehicles (i.e., police automobiles, ambulances, trucks, etc.)
• Provide internal advice on technical matters concerning radio and test equipment to the sales and service departments.
• Maintain frequency database and library reference materials and advise manager of discrepancies.
• Monitor customer frequencies when problems are reported and advise on results and remedies.
• Assist in the maintenance of the NXDN, PP, LTR, and conventional repeater systems.
• Assist in site maintenance procedures at all Prairie Mobile sites within the region.
• Design, troubleshot, and research a variety of electronic equipment.
• Evaluate and recondition used radio/cellular equipment for resale.
• Provide front counter sales assistance and support as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Recognized certificate or diploma in a related field such as Telecommunications Networking, Communications Engineering Technology or RF Electronics (an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered).
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Skilled in repair and programming two-way radios, antennae, coax cable and connectors and remote terminals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, service providers, customers, and the public.
• Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Be mechanically inclined and able to work with and maintain hand tools and small power tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as Internet based tools.
• Ability to install software.
• A valid driver’s license is required for travel to customer sites as required.
• Ability to work in various workplace conditions ranging from service shops to outside fields.
• Be in good physical condition with the ability to lift, push, and/or pull weights up to 50 lbs.
• Results oriented, adaptable, an analytical thinker, and possess a high and positive can-do attitude!
