Mental Health Skills Teaching Specialist
Part Time, Monday-Thursday, 2:00-7:30 p.m. (22 hours per week)

Learning and Leisure Centre, 103-290 Vaughan St. , Winnipeg, MB

Are you passionate about community and wellness? Our Mental Health Learning and Leisure program is designed to maintain the dignity and realize the potential of adults who are living with mental illness. As the Mental Health Skills Teaching Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering educational and some recreational programming to identified individuals living with mental illness. You will ensure the service delivery involves a trauma-informed and recovery oriented, psychosocial rehabilitation approach and community support system.

Qualifications

Are you the right fit?
• Develop and deliver specialized skill development courses which promote group interaction,
participation, positive communication and individual accomplishment.
• Plan individualized coaching interventions to move individuals progressively towards their goals
• Provide appropriate outreach and community resource assistance to participants
• Assisting with recruitment, selection, performance management, employee training and development,
and conducting annual performance appraisals of volunteers for the Learning and Leisure Centre

What else do you need?
• Post-Secondary Education in Social Service/Health Service field (i.e Psychology, Social Work,
Health Services/Sciences, etc.)
• 1-2 years’ experience working in a similar role
• Coaching or counselling experience
• Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C (can provide)
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) (an asset)
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
