Civil Engineering Technologist

Overview

We are looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Cranbrook team. Life in a growing professional practice is never boring. You will get to grow alongside our team of professionals and provide general drafting and design support from preliminary through to detailed design, as well as periodic on-site inspection of various land development projects throughout British Columbia.

Coupled with the unmatched learning and project experience opportunities, some of your key responsibilities will be:

• Carrying out drafting and design assignments
• Communicating with team members and project leaders
• Supporting design, drawing production and/or construction specifications
• Ensuring quality control of both design and drafting production work
• Performing field inspections during construction projects
• Preparing quantity and cost estimates
• Performing a variety of defined assignments with guidance from team members
• Advising the team on technical problems and troubleshooting
• Promoting and instilling a sense of teamwork among members

Qualifications

Our preferred candidate will be a new graduate with up to five years of experience with a diploma from a civil technology program or equivalent, and certified or eligible for certification with ASTTBC. Given the variety of project needs and a desire to find the right person to join our team, we will consider candidates with a range of experience, education, and background in municipal infrastructure, land development and transportation design and implementation. We are looking for the following skills, strengths, and interests:

• Excellent drafting skills with good knowledge of drawing set-up and production
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required)
• Proficiency in or willingness to learn Infraworks (considered an asset)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software
• A keen eye for detail and take great pride in your work, both the large and the small projects
• Effective communication and writing abilities
• Committed to ongoing personal and professional development
• Demonstrated interest in Civil design and construction
• Have a valid class 5 driver's license and be able to commute to client sites
