Communications Summer Student

What You Will Do
Reporting to the Communications Specialist, the Communications Summer Student will help grow the DUC brand.
Responsibilities may include:
• Researching and writing articles.
• Taking and editing photographs.
• Shooting and editing video.
• Developing social media content.
• Creating/assisting with print advertisements, signage, email blasts, podcasts, web content, media releases and special events.
• Meeting with landowners, DUC partners, media and the public.
• Collaborating with DUC staff and industry experts on communications/marketing initiatives.

Position Details: Full Time, Fixed Term (approx. May – Aug)
Salary Range: Starting salary at $17.25/hr, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual's education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Remote but with travel throughout southwest Manitoba.
Closing Deadline: February 15, 2024 (11:59PM EDT).

Qualifications

Requirements
You are a full-time post-secondary student pursuing a career in communications, advertising, public relations, marketing, multimedia production or journalism.

You have a working knowledge of:
• Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, Illustrator and InDesign.
• Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
• WordPress.
• DSLR cameras and lenses.

You are self-motivated with a can-do attitude and excellent time management skills. You are a problem solver who pays attention to detail. You are a team player comfortable working on many projects at once.
