Overview
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is seeking motivated students who enjoy being outdoors to work with us for the summer. AAFC offers students positions at the Brandon Research and Development Centre providing valuable work experience through practical and meaningful employment. The successful applicant will participate in:
• Collecting grain, spike, and/or whole plant samples from field or greenhouse trials
• Weed management in field trials
• Preparing pots for greenhouse trials
• Data and sample collection according to protocols
• Preparing and labeling bags, containers, and materials for collection of samples
• Maintaining and/or discarding of grain sample inventory
Qualifications
Essential qualifications (required)
• Works well independently and in a team
• Strong time management and communication skills
Asset qualifications (beneficial but not required)
• Experience in the agriculture industry
Work conditions
• Field work which may involve some heavy lifting
Conditions of employment
• Known allergies must be controlled through use of protective mask and/or medication
and must not impinge on tasks to be performed
• Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to walk, bend and stand for part/most of working day
• Reliability security clearance
