Recruitment and Communications Specialist - BPS

Overview

In accordance with the Delegation of Authority, acts as a liaison between the police service, news media, other agencies, and the members of public at large, while working toward the goals and objectives of the Brandon Police Service to meet the mission of the City of Brandon.
Shall, in performance of duties, develop and maintain the Brandon Police Service social media pages and identify, improve, and implement media development innovations in consultation with the Sergeant – Community Services Section. Create strong public relations, strategic communication planning and event management when necessary.
In addition, work both independently and in a team approach with all sworn and civilian members to research, develop, and implement modernized recruitment strategies in an efficient and effective manner. In addition, shall in the performance of duties, respect and protect human dignity and maintain and uphold the human rights of all persons.

Qualifications

Education:

• Degree or diploma in Communications or a related field including the understanding of content management systems.

Experience:

• Training or professional experience in a professional recruitment environment
• Training or professional experience in media relations and research methods
• Experience in digital marketing, photography and videography is preferred
• Prior experience in a police environment and a working knowledge of police systems
• An understanding of police operations and administration as well as pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the police
• Sufficient professional experience to have demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and competence in law enforcement
• Technical aptitude and knowledge of web technologies, relevant software such as Adobe Creative Suite, and web based applications.
