Registered Foot Care Nurse

Overview

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one casual Registered Foot Care Nurse position within our Health & Wellness Department located in Winnipeg, MB. The Registered Foot Care Nurse will need to be available a minimum of two shifts per month and will provide direct foot care services to Red River Métis Citizens in their communities, across the Province. The candidate must be able to travel throughout Manitoba. Foot care tools and accessories are the nurse’s responsibility to provide and maintain within Infection Control guidelines.

Qualifications

Job Duties/Competencies:
• Provide foot care to individuals in the community and in the clinic;
• Understand and implement infection prevention practices while specifically adhering to care standards as it relates to foot care and diabetic foot care;
• Assess the health status of the client;
• Chart accordingly within MMF Citizen files;
• Adhere to Public Health guidelines for reprocessing and sterilizing foot care tools provided; and,
• Attend team meetings as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Certification from an accredited Advanced Foot Care course and is Registered with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM);
• Hold a valid CPR certificate;
• Experience with the guidelines set out by the Manitoba Association of Foot Care Nurses;
• Works within the guidelines set out by the CRNM and the Regulated Health Professions Act - (RHPA);
• Demonstrated initiative and commitment to professional development and skill enhancement;
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to work independently to provide care to clients in the community setting;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
