JOB SUMMARY
The Behavioural Health Foundation (BHF) is currently accepting resumes for the position of licensed RPN, RN, or LPN for a term of up to a year. BHF offers long-term residential programming for adults dealing with a range of addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering professional nursing services and care to all BHF residents, including those with complex and unpredictable health and mental health needs. This includes providing independent nursing care, assuming a leadership role within the team, facilitating the coordination of resident care and liaison services, and collaborating effectively within the multidisciplinary team. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for providing education to both residents and staff on a variety of topics.
Working closely with non-medical treatment staff, the incumbent must demonstrate superior verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective information sharing and documentation.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide nursing care, supportive counseling, and life skills training in community-based settings.
Educate and counsel patients and stakeholders on health-related issues based on evidence-based practices, in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
Accurately and consistently document care provided in accordance with Behavioural Health Foundation policies and the Personal Health Information Act.
Contribute to staff team meetings by offering input and recommending resources.
Respond promptly and appropriately to urgent, short-notice crisis situations within the scope of the position.
Maintain a supportive and interactive rapport with clients.
Qualifications
QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
A licensed RPN, RN or LPN with a minimum of 2- 3 years experience related to addictions and mental health experience is preferred.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable.
Must adhere to PHIA and professional code of ethics.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs.
Self-starter and proactive approach in resolving problems and issues
Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Must be self-motivated and well organized.
Must maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals
Preference will be given to those applicants of Indigenous heritage, competent in Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous heritage, culture, spirituality, customs
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a university, college, or other approved Master of Nursing program
Clear Criminal Record Check, with Vulnerable Sector Check (no older than three months)
Clear Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks’ (no older than three months)
Active membership in the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Manitoba
A valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle and a satisfactory drivers abstract.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Experience working with people with addictions and/or mental illness.
Experience working with individuals from varied cultural backgrounds and socio-economic status.
