Homeschooled Applicants
At Assiniboine, we recognize and accept homeschooling education. In order to be considered for admission to our programs, prospective students must:
- Provide a letter of Grade 12 completion from the Homeschooling Office, Manitoba Education and Training, if available.
- Provide a copy of the homeschooled transcript, if available
Students who have been homeschooled in another province may be eligible for admission provided that their application includes written confirmation, if available, from a duly noted authorized representative of the provincial department of education stating that they have completed Grade 12.
Applications will be considered on an individual basis; additional testing may be required.

As a homeschooled applicant, what do I need to apply to a program at Assiniboine College?
For on-campus day programs and distance education programs, a complete application includes the completed Program Application and Guide, the non-refundable application fee and a copy of the homeschooling transcript, if available. If you are still taking high school courses, please include a list of the courses you are currently enrolled in. Final marks/transcript/Homeschooling Progress Report must be submitted along with a letter of completion, if available, from the Manitoba Homeschooling Office must be submitted with the application. If you are still being homeschooled, provide information on what is complete and what you're currently enrolled in.
Competitive entry programs require that applicants fill out a supplemental application form in addition to the regular application form.
Is the application process the same or different for homeschooled students?

How do I provide a transcript if I was homeschooled?

What if I am unable to provide a homeschooling transcript and/or letter of completion?
Along with with your application form, you should submit any other relevant supporting documentation (ex. progress reports, transcript, final mark statement).
Applications will be considered on an individual basis; additional testing will be required. If you do not have a transcript or letter of completion, please contact us in advance of applying at [email protected].
What information do I need to provide for the “High School Attended” field on the application form?
You may write “homeschooled” under the High School Attended section.
The application form asks for a MET number; what if I don’t have one?
You may leave that field on the application form blank.
When do I need to provide my final letter from the Manitoba Homeschooling Office?
A final transcript (if available) and a letter from the Manitoba Homeschooling Office (if available) must be provided by July 15.
Manitoba Homeschooling Office is no longer supplying a letter of completion. Submit all other relevant supporting documents with your application.
Are homeschooled applicants eligible for entrance scholarships and bursaries?
Each award has its own set of eligibility criteria; please use our awards search tool to search for awards you qualify for. You may also want to visit our financial aid and awards section.
Are there any scholarship or bursaries specific for homeschooled students?

Which high school courses should I take to be accepted into a program?
The basic admission requirement for college is a Manitoba High School diploma or equivalent. Each program also has its own admission requirements. Please see our Admissions Requirements page for a full list of programs and admission requirements.
What do I do if I do not meet the admission requirements of the program?
Please, see more information about a Special Circumstances Assessment. The college also offers high school upgrading at our Centre for Adult Learning - Brandon at our Victoria Avenue East campus or our Parkland campus in Dauphin.
Is the application process the same for all college programs? What if I want to apply to a continuing studies program, will it be the same?

How do I know if I am following the Manitoba curriculum?

Do I need to write the provincial exams to be accepted to a college program?
No, Assiniboine does not assess marks from the provincial exams as a part of the admission process.
I was homeschooled outside of Manitoba. Can I still apply to the college?

Are there any supports to help students transition from a home school environment to a post-secondary institution environment?
