Position Overview:

Assiniboine College is looking for a highly motivated instructor to teach a 13-week academic preparation program being delivered in-person in the community of St. Theresa Point, Manitoba. The program is designed to give students the necessary skills and high school credential to help them successfully transition to an Applied Plumbing Installation program. The Manitoba certified teacher will be able to instruct the following courses: Essential Math 40S, ELA: Technical Communication 40S, Competency Mathematics, and Sentence Skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use the provided course material to deliver Manitoba curriculum to adult students
  • Complete administrative duties such as student evaluations and attendance
  • Prepare students for post-secondary learning by providing in-class lessons and assessment, including individualized feedback and support
  • Work together with our Education Consultant to ensure a positive student learning environment that supports a high level of student engagement

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree and a Manitoba Teaching Certificate
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • A personable and friendly approach to instruction and classroom management including maintaining a respectful classroom
  • Familiarity with Manitoba curriculum for grade 12 math and grade 12 English
  • A basic competency with computers
  • Preferably experience teaching adults
