Personal Support Worker - 2 Positions

Overview

We have partnered with a local Winnipeg based family who requires full-time care for a 34-year-old man with spastic quadraplegia Cerebral Palsy for a day shift (Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) and a night shift (Monday-Friday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM active, overnight from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM flat rate of $72-80 total).

The selected day-time candidate will be required to effectively assist with day-to-day needs of the individual and provide companionship. Living in the St. Norbert area, daily activities for this individual include driving to appointments, university classes, social outings, movies, and some travel. All activities will be paid for by the family and at no cost to the candidate. Due to the use of a power wheelchair, an accessible vehicle will be provided.

The selected night-time candidate will be required to effectively assist with the nighttime needs of the individual and provide companionship. Living in the St. Norbert area, nightly activities for this individual include mal preparation, stretches, bedtime routines, and ensuring comfort throughout the night. A separate room and bed is provided for use and sleep is allowed so long as the individual’s needs are met.

Qualifications

An ideal candidate for both positions would possess a friendly, patient, and engaging disposition who respects the independence of the individual needing assistance. Due to the need for lifting, the candidate must be physically able to lift up to 90 pounds. Reliability is a must in this role as relief for the overnight Support Worker is needed along with stability for the individual.
