Teaching Kitchen & Culinary Theatre
Assiniboine’s Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (MICA) opened for classes in the fall of 2007. MICA is home to learning spaces such as the state-of-the-art teaching kitchen and the Manitoba Canola Growers Culinary Theatre.
Teaching Kitchen
The state-of-art culinary teaching kitchen is a chef’s dream. Here, students learn everything from knife skills to food prep to specialized menu creation. Working within Assiniboine’s Field-to-Fork approach, Culinary Arts students take food grown by our Sustainable Food Systems and Horticultural Production programs and turn it into mouth-watering realties.

The teaching kitchen also includes a baking kitchen is where students make some of their most mouth-watering creations. Each year, students and faculty put on decadent events, and the scrumptious desserts and pastries for all of these impressive soirées starts right here in the baking kitchen.
