Canerector Scholarship
Advancing Skilled Trades
Financial awards play a crucial role in supporting Assiniboine students, and the Canerector Foundation's annual investment of $400,000 will support the training of 34 students as they pursue careers in skilled trades.
To be eligible, you must be enrolled in one of the following programs, and demonstrate academic achievement in high school (math and English):
- Automotive Technician
- Carpentry and Woodworking
- Construction Electrician
- Heavy Equipment Technician
- Piping Trades
- Power Engineering
- Welding
In addition, to enrolling in an eligible trade program, recipients must:
- Sign on to participate in a mentorship role to prospective students in skilled trade training programs at the college and commit to (at minimum) one co-curricular mentoring event per term. You will receive $2,000 in the fall term ($1,000 for Welding).
- Recipients who fulfill the mentorship agreement and have demonstrated academic achievement by earning a minimum 3.0 GPA in the fall term will be eligible for an additional $1,000 in the winter term.
- Recipients must be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents or protected persons/refugees.
There is a need for skilled trades in virtually every industry here in Canada, and we are pleased to support the education and training required to afford students with the opportunity to pursue these rewarding, enriching, in-demand career paths.
