Course Number
SCIE-0073
Medical Microbiology examines microbial structure, physiology, and interactions with humans to provide a foundation for understanding infectious diseases and the mechanism of action of antimicrobials. The course covers genetic changes that drive antimicrobial resistance and how the immune system defends against infections. Immunization strategies and their role in disease prevention are also examined. Students will examine microbial diversity, drug targets, genetic changes in resistance, immune defense, and analyse disease transmission, symptoms, prevention, and treatment.
